Cleaning and Maintenance Instructions for XShear® Trauma Shears

Daily Cleaning

  • Can be cleaned with commercial disinfectants or bleach solutions.
  • Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water and dry the scissors carefully, as some agents may cause corrosion.

Lubrication

  • Add a drop of lubricating oil to the pivot point and the surface of the scissors – improves operation and protects against corrosion.

Special Cleaning

  • Adhesive and fiberglass can be removed with 100% acetone (e.g., nail polish remover).
  • Scissors can be disinfected in an autoclave, but they are not designed for sterile use.

Deep Cleaning and Disassembly

  • Scissors can be disassembled with a Torx T15 bit by removing the central bolt.
  • Remember the correct reassembly order.
  • The mini-cutter is not disassemblable – if issues arise, we recommend servicing or sharpening.

Sharpening

  • Scissors can be sharpened by yourself or a professional as needed.
