Its contents focus specifically on first aid for life-threatening injuries, such as controlling massive bleeding, ensuring breathing, and treating hypothermia.

An IFAK is not intended for all users, but in the right environment, it is an essential part of preparedness.

Can the contents of a first aid kit expire?

Many first aid supplies are sterile and disposable, and they have a limited shelf life. In addition, storage conditions, such as humidity and temperature, can affect the condition of the equipment.

Therefore, a first aid kit should be checked regularly. Expired and especially dried-out supplies, such as gauze, should be replaced so that the kit works reliably when needed.
